Thank you for using TM Math!

TM Math distribution consists of 10 Type1 fonts and TeX support files.
Six of the type1 fonts are replacement for corresponding CM fonts as
follows:

pfb/tmsy10.pfb replacement for cmsy
pfb/tmmib10.pfb replacement for cmmib
pfb/tmex10.pfb replacement for cmex
pfb/tmmi10.pfb replacement for cmmi
pfb/tmexb10.pfb replacement for (usually non-existing) cmexb
pfb/tmbsy10.pfb replacement for cmbsy

The other four are intended to be used together with Adobe Times Roman
typefaces. MicroPress fonts add missing characters to the Adobe fonts
in order to obtain CM-like layout

pfb/tmrb10ex.pfb supplements tib____ to obtain a replacement for cmbx
pfb/tmri10ex.pfb supplements tii____ to obtain a replacement for cmti
pfb/tmrm10ex.pfb supplements tir____ to obtain a replacement for cmr
pfb/tmbi10ex.pfb supplements tibi___ to obtain a replacement for cmtib

These four typefaces should not be used directly, but via VF files.
The supplied VF files are:

LV1 OT1 T1

tmbc10mv.vf tmbc10ot.vf tmbc10t1.vf Bold Small Caps
tmbi10mv.vf tmbi10ot.vf tmbi10t1.vf Bold Oblique
tmrb10mv.vf tmrb10ot.vf tmrb10t1.vf Bold
tmrm10mv.vf tmrm10ot.vf tmrm10t1.vf Regular
tmri10mv.vf tmri10ot.vf tmri10t1.vf Regular Oblique
tmsc10mv.vf tmsc10ot.vf tmsc10t1.vf Regular Small Caps

The three sets correspond to three supported layouts of TM text fonts:
LV1 (VTeX default), OT1 (CM-compatible), and T1 (EC-compatible).

The metrics files for all listed fonts (and for the standard Adobe Times
fonts are supplied in the metrics/ subdirectory:

TEXT:

  RAW BASE EXTENSION LV1 OT1 T1

  tmbi108r.tfm tmbi10ex.tfm tmbi10mv.tfm tmbi10ot.tfm tmbi10t1.tfm
  tmrb108r.tfm tmrb10ex.tfm tmrb10mv.tfm tmrb10ot.tfm tmrb10t1.tfm
  tmrm108r.tfm tmrm10ex.tfm tmrm10mv.tfm tmrm10ot.tfm tmrm10t1.tfm
  tmri108r.tfm tmri10ex.tfm tmri10mv.tfm tmri10ot.tfm tmri10t1.tfm
     ---- ---- tmbc10mv.tfm tmbc10ot.tfm tmbc10t1.tfm
     ---- ---- tmsc10mv.tfm tmsc10ot.tfm tmsc10t1.tfm

MATH:
  tmsy10.tfm tmbsy10.tfm tmex10.tfm
  tmexb10.tfm tmmi10.tfm tmmib10.tfm

All the listed files together with the Adobe Times fonts
should be copied to where TeX and DVIPS will find them.

[The referenced Adobe fonts are:
        tir_____.pfb
        tib_____.pfb
        tii_____.pfb
        tibi____.pfb
These fonts are included, for example, with the free Acrobat Reader 3.x.
Strictly speaking, having the Adobe fonts is not necessary if you are
using DVIPS or similar software and do not embed the fonts. However,
if you are making PDF files, embedding the fonts is the preferred solution.
This is because if you do not embed the fonts, Adobe Acrobat Reader 4.x
will substitute New Times Roman, while GhostScript will substitute
the URW Times clone. The TMMath fontset, however, has been specifically
designed to work best with the Adobe's Times.]

The distribution also contains PFM files for all the fonts listed above.
These files are used to install TM-math fonts into the Adobe Type Manager
(ATM) and are not needed for TeX/DVIPS processing.

The rest of the distribution are the support files for different dialects
of TeX.

For Plain and LaTeX 2.09, the supplied files are designed to be
used with INITEX to build new TM-math based formats. These files are

LaTeX 2.09:

l209/lfontsmt.tex
l209/glplaint.tex

Plain:

plain/gplainmt.tex

For LaTeX 2E, there is no need to build a new format file. It is sufficient
to include (\usepackage) the tmmath.sty file:

l2e/tmmath.sty

[A superiour macro package, tmmaths.sty, has been provided by Walter
Schmidt; it can be used in place of tmmath.sty]

The following additional files are used by the LaTeX 2E:

l2e/omltmr.fd
l2e/omstmr.fd
l2e/omxtmex.fd
l2e/utmr.fd
l2e/omltmm.fd
l2e/omstmsy.fd
l2e/ot1tmr.fd

and should be copied (together with tmmath.sty) to where LaTeX will find them.

The final four files of the distribution are the configuration files for DVIPS:

cfg/mtfonts.map
cfg/mtfonts.cfg
cfg/mv.enc LV1 encoding
cfg/cm.enc OT1 encoding
cfg/ec.enc EC encoding
